Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a dentistry specialty focusing on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems with the alignment of your teeth and jaws, which may be the result of irregular tooth position, muscle imbalances, or disproportionate jaws.

Although all dentists can provide orthodontics, only a specialist orthodontist has undertaken three years of formal full-time extra training in the discipline of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. This rigorous post-graduate training makes the orthodontist the most qualified to diagnose, prevent and treat dental and facial irregularities. Your orthodontist has the expertise and a complete range of appliances to correct the way your teeth and jaws function together to give your or your child a beautiful and healthy smile. All orthodontic specialists must be registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

All Australian practitioners’ qualifications can be checked at www.ahpra.gov.au
